Mothers' day SOS

Mothers day can feature up there with anniversaries and birthdays. Very easy to slip your mind..unless you're the one at the receiving end of the special occasion.
I'm trying to be fair to fathers here, it may be possible that after a saturday night of distractions and a life in a world where they don't see the plethora of cards and commercial plugs for mothers day, it simply isn't obvious.
The schools are brilliant at preparing younger kids with bright cheery home made cards & that's what it's all about. So here's a run down on getting a quick card.
As an sos for mothers day here are a few diy suggestions to get sorted:
1. make a card out of paper or cardboard & use some bird seed/poultry mix (not cattle cake or pony nuts) to create any shape - a large sunflower or heart - stick with glue. After mothers day you can choose to plant it somewhere. Imagine that - the ultimate in green recycling. Do I get free carbon credits for that?
2. print off a card - there are plenty of sites with printable cards
3. ecards - you can be really lazy and get a free card on line and send it to her inbox for the ultimate in impersonal, but you face a woman scorned for a while
4. take a piece of paper, or a pad of paper, and make it into a voucher or book of vouchers that mum can use at her discretion e.g. meal for mum, do the washing, run a bubble bath etc etc
One piece of advice, whatever you do, do not get petrol station flowers or supermarket flowers. Hard to explain, but its a woman thing. Instead, if you're in a supermarket try to get some chocolates and sparking wine/champagne, ingredients for a great meal, or maybe dvd chick-flicks and popcorn.
I heard about a dad who bought petrol station flowers earlier this week 'because I might forget later in the week'. Nil point. Dad's may be thinking, what a good idea wish I'd thought of that.
Anyhow, it's a family day to show mum how much you appreciate her and actions speak louder than words..roll up your sleeves and let her take the day off.
I've found this card on line. If you see this free card it may not be wise to take it home if you value the lady of the house.
