Most farmers should have received their hill farming allowance payment from the farm payment agency.
By 1 March 4294 claimants (70% of eligible farmers) had received partial payments and a total of just over £10m had been paid out. The remaining balance of payments should start in April once the necessary inspection programmes are completed. These inspections ensure farmers have complied with scheme requirements.
