farm life centre

Visit, Stay & Save Peak District & Derbyshire
Following a recent death locally, it makes you wonder where would someone turn if you just want a chat with someone on the 'outside' of your life.  This led me to the farm life centre that's dedicated to supporting our well-being and helping you to find information you need.

The farming life centre is quietly tucked away off the a6 between ashford and buxton, a mile or so from taddington village.  It's fairly inconspicuous being set in a single track road in blackwell.

Peakdistrictfarming.co.uk is forging links with the farm life centre and we feel this is a place that could benefit loads more people if they knew where it is and what the team of workers and volunteers do in our region.

Carol lloyd, web site editor, is currently training as a  'health champion' volunteer at the centre.  'Health champion' sounds a bit odd but it means acting as a 'buddy' to people who might want a bit of support in their daily life.  You don't need any qualifications to be a buddy, but should feel ok about talking to anyone & have basic skills like reading, writing & maths.

There's an introductory 2-day session and we'll cover what happens next week.  Please contact the farming life centre using the link below if you'd be interesting in volunteering to be a buddy (health champion) - penny organises the training and is really welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic.
