our background

Peakdistrictfarming is edited by Carol Lloyd.  Her grandfather, Clarence Oakden, was one of the biggest milk producers in Cheshire in his day - with tying for 100 cattle on the farm and a flying herd he was an avid livestock mart supporter. In his spare time he renovated veteran cars for her grandmother who competed them at rallies throughout Europe.

There were many tales about Clarence - a top hat was kept in the safe at Otley market for his visits there. He opposed the establishment of the milk marketing board & always looked for a marketing edge, at one stage he supplied kosher milk but he found the Rabbi praying in the parlour a ‘distraction’.

Carol is a graduate from Harper Adams, was a national livestock adviser, involved in pioneering agricultural dot com stuff and now finds herself working as an adult carer via self employment and living in France.  This site was populated with content a couple of years ago and is a hobby.

If you want to send me some content or have something interesting just email.. I'd be interested to hear your views and news :0) carol@peakdistrictfarming.co.uk
