our background

Peakdistrictfarming has taken shape in liaison with sally wake and carol lloyd.
Carol's grandfather, clarence oakden, was one of the biggest milk producers in cheshire in his day - with tying for 100 cattle on the farm and a flying herd he was an avid livestock mart supporter. In his spare time he renovated veteran cars which her grandmother took to rallies throughout europe and norway. He sold up in the 1960s and retired abroad because he was unfortunate enough to only have a daughter.
There were many tales about clarence - a top hat was kept in the safe at Otley market for his visits there. He opposed the establishment of the milk marketing board & always looked for a marketing edge, at one stage he supplied kosher milk but he found the rabbi praying in the parlour a ‘distraction’.
Carol grew up on the cheshire side of the peak park & has migrated to the derbyshire side via a career down south. She owns land in hartington and cheshire. Her favorite things include heavy bred buff orpingtons, the term 'terroir', even though we can't translate it into English, & springtime.
Sally founded peakdistrictonline inspired by her passion for the area and has since moved to an idyllic peak district village. She loves decorative hearts, the word tintinnabulation (ringing of bells) and chocolate.
Peakdistrictfarming.co.uk is a sister company of peakdistrictonline.co.uk the ultimate peak district website. The site relies on 7soft ecreator software.
