For a great day out during the last week of the kids summer holidays, head off to the Country Fair at the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire 4 - 5 September 2009. Adults pay on the day for entrance tickets but under 14s are free so it's great value and really interesting things to see or do. If you have an obedient dog you could enter a scurry where dogs are timed whilst they retrieve 2 dummies in a 'field' situation.
Looking at the list of events I'm tempted to dig out the border terrier for a dog race in the main ring - with the aid of a fake squirrel good fun should be had by all. How will the participants get them back though?
This event used to be called a game fair and so expect to see traditional country sports and their supporters in abundance.
