You can choose which category you fit into. It's not just about the food though, try and let her have a lie-in for an extra special day. Mums really value this. Although it's the height of self-indulgence, it's a free gift. Remember to get a tray on which to lay her breakfast out and a fresh flower or home made card to finish it off. Seriously grown up This is a great recipe taken from askmen.com & it's written by their nutritional correspondent. The level of enthusiasm shown for impressing the aptly named 'overnight date' is impressive - let's get some of that machismo and passion into preparing mum's breakfast in bed! 'She slept over for the first time and it was a long, passionate night. What can be done to impress her even more? The most memorable thing a man can do in this situation is prepare an exotic breakfast and serve her in bed. Hopefully, she will be impressed and will come back for seconds. The first thing to do is tease her palate with a fruit smoothie. To complement the exotic juice, serve her the original French toast. In France, it's known as le pain perdu - the lost bread. Obviously it's not really lost - here's a new twist on an old breakfast favorite that's filled with wonderful flavors your overnight date will surely enjoy.'
Big kids If you can crack an egg you'll be onto a winner with this quick recipe which avoids hot pans and hobs in favour of a microwave. Always supervise kids in the kitchen for safely and because they love improvisation (being a chef) and relish finding new things to pour and different ways to 'cook'. Within seconds your kitchen looks like a cyclone has ripped through. You'll need a mixing bowl and the following quantities per portion: 1 egg 1 slice bread 2 tablespoons of milk *crack egg(s) check no shells make it in the bowl & add milk then mix well *pour mixture into a flattish bowl so *put sliced bread in mixture one side and then the other so that it is coated both sides *place on a microwavable plate & microwave on high power 30 secs *take the plate out with care and use a fork to turn over french bread and return to microwave & cook for 30 secs *leave to stand and then, using imagination, season with: a sprinkle of cheese, or sprinkle with mixed herbs, or any other spices such as cinnamon. Alternatively, for a sweeter tooth, put lemon curd or jams on the side. |
